Crunch time

So the last “Big” race of 2013 is around the corner. 3 weeks and counting.
Last minute kilos and chaos.

Good luck to all and hang in there. All will be worth it in the end. I think.

This is what I did yesterday.
5 x hill repeats at 350w avg – 8min per hill.

Jakaranda Satellite Challenge

IMG_8312

Early morning on a Saturday…..what else could we do but to race ANY local race on the calendar. This time around it was the Bestmed Jakaranda Satellite Challenge over a distance of 106km. The infamous Hekpoort lurking just 15km from the finish.

The Elites got away at 6am. Henning had a puncture and was out of contention for the overall win which left Jaco and Ian to do some racing on the front end. Both finishing in a remarkable time of 2:37.

In the Vets bunch Philip tried his best to tame the ever competitive Demacon and Bishops teams but it was a surprise solo break of Shaun Mackenzie on Hekpoort that stayed away to take the win. Philip was 5th finishing in a time of 2:44

Leezaan competed in the Elite ladies cat with the main focus of getting some decent training in for the upcoming worlds qualifier race in Pietermaritzburg. An-li took the win for the Bestmed ladies team with Leezaan finishing safely in the bunch with a time of 3:08 giving her 9th overall.

Mia and Johan and Dewalt competed in the open A bunch all finishing with good times.

Good luck to all for the week that is upon us. Keep the rubber side down!

Good luck to everyone doing the Satellite this weekend. Hekpoort is NEVER easy!

Then….

Congrats Ian for finishing 5th overall in the Berg and Bush this past weekend. Awesome result!
Not only that but TCS Blue Pencil Columbia had riders at Crater Cruse, Berg and Bush, Amashova and Voriberg races this past weekend…..nice seeing everyone out and about and wearing the BLUE load and proud.

Keep the rubber side down!!
